The Heat is On!

Right around this time every year, I hear friends and family comment about Austin Temperatures starting to rise. Sometimes I hear anxiety in their voices about the multi days and weeks of 100+ degree temps. When I hear these conversations, the music in my head starts up for "The Heat Is On" from Beverly Hills Cop sung by Glenn Frey. I can't help it. I am jamming out in my head to the music. You should hear my internal melody, it's quite impressive.

Unfortunately, that moment of bliss only lasts for a minute. I like summer and I don't mind the heat, but I am reminded with these conversations that the really long stretches of really hot days can ware on myself and even the most heat tolerant. I am pretty good about keeping our Air Conditioner in good shape. I wasn't always that way though. It took me that one time, when our A/C went out in July, to learn that I do not enjoy paper sticking to me at my desk while working or the chair getting up when I go to stand because it is stuck to my skin. Fortunately, Les Sariol, with Altruistic A/C & Heating was there to save my day.

Recently, I was meeting with Les at our investment property discussing the Heating and Air Conditioning System. The existing system was in rough shape and needed some major work. At first, I was convinced that we could stretch its life out just a little more by doing the bare minimum. Les gave me a smile and quickly reminded me that it was likely to go out on the hottest day of summer and the busiest day of the year for him, impacting tenants in the worst way because that's just how things work out sometimes.

I hope sharing my Summer heat experiences are a great reminder for you to schedule a tune-up for your system. A little preventive maintenance can do wonders for your system’s lifespan and efficiency. And it never hurts to have your condensation line checked out to make sure it’s draining smoothly. A blocked condensation line can cause leaks, which in turn can damage equipment, floors, or drywall. One of the last things anyone wants is to have their air conditioner go out in the middle of a string of 100+ degree days.

Need more convincing? As this month’s Item of Value, I’d like to connect you with Hindsite’s and my trusted HVAC service provider, Les Sariol with Altruistic A/C & Heating, who is offering to come by and service your unit at a great price. All you have to do is click here to request an appointment and Les’ team will follow up with you to schedule a time. In the meantime, check out this flyer for ways you can help keep your system in tip-top shape year-round. Here’s hoping your summer gets off to a cool start!

It’s a good life!
