Owen and Reagan have a habit of playing songs on repeat, which end up sticking in my head – and not the popular songs of the day mind you, so I will pass along the current ballad that Owen has been favoring. “What’s the weather, what’s the weather, what’s the weather like today? Is it sunny, is it cloudy, is it rainy out today? Is it snowy, is it windy, what’s the weather like today?” In Austin, we all know that this song can have a different answer depending on not just the time of year, but the time of day...
Even though this past winter was pretty mild, it felt like pieces of it kept coming back unexpectedly. It was as if Old Man Winter wanted to argue with us and kept poking his head back in the room shaking his fist and belting out “and another thing!” Just when Keri and I thought we could put away the jackets and sweaters, another cold front would come in and there we were, making sure the kids didn’t go to school in summer gear while everyone else was wearing ski clothes. I’m certain that the home thermostat was ready for us to make up our minds… get past the heat/cool setting and just pick one already!
Speaking of air conditioners, this is a great time to schedule a tune-up for your system. A little preventive maintenance can do wonders for your system’s lifespan and efficiency. And it never hurts to have your condensation line checked out to make sure it’s draining smoothly. A blocked condensation line can cause leaks, which in turn can damage equipment, floors, or drywall. One of the last things anyone wants is to have their air conditioner go out in the middle of a string of 100+ degree days.
