Austin Real Estate Brokerages Deemed Essential Businesses

Per an order issued by Austin's Mayor, Steve Adler, the city's real estate brokerages have been deemed "Essential Businesses" and will be allowed to remain open during the "Stay Home - Work Safe" restrictions. The order, which is effective as of 11:59 pm March 24th until Monday, April 13th, 2020, also allows financial institutions imperative to the real estate transaction process to remain operational, such as lenders, appraisers, title companies, and insurance agents. The specific language pertaining to these businesses can be found in Section 6, Part f, Sub-Parts vii and xix and reads as follows:


vvi. Financial Institutions. Banks and related financial institutions, consumer lenders, sales and finance lenders, credit unions, appraisers, title companies, pawnshops, entities that issue bonds, insurance companies, underwriters, agents, brokers, and related insurance claims and agents;


xix. Profession Services. Professional services, such as legal or accounting services, insurance services, and real estate services when necessary to assist in compliance with legally mandated activities or to further Essential Businesses, Essential Government functions, or Critical Infrastructure;


As a result, the Hindsite will remain open and operational during normal business hours from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
