Hometown Teaching Heroes

Before becoming a realtor, I was a teacher.  After graduating from Baylor University, my career in education began at Pflugerville Middle School as their choir director.  I was blessed with a wonderful administration and fellow educators who supported me throughout my first year of teaching.  It is not for the faint of heart!  There was much to learn as a new teacher, and the middle school level was particularly challenging for me.  The following year, I shifted the path of my career to focus on early childhood music.  Those days were often challenging, but they also offered rich rewards and memories I still cherish.

We might be in the thick of summer, but the school year is right around the corner.  Even if you don’t have children in school, you likely know someone who works in education and know of the struggles teachers have to stock their classrooms year after year.  Every year, teachers all over Texas (and beyond) dig into their own pockets to prepare themselves, their classrooms and their students for learning.  I’m already seeing requests from my teacher friends for help with supplies for their rooms, and boy, can I relate.  Together, though, we can help.

As you can maybe imagine, this month’s Item of Value is near and dear to my heart – the opportunity to thank a teacher; any teacher.  Go to our website at www.HindsiteAustin.com (or CLICK HERE) to recognize your favorite teacher and enter them for a chance to win some well-deserved rewards.  The winning entry will receive a gift card they can use to make this the best school year ever.  So, tell a compelling case for how this teacher has earned your esteem, gratitude and loyalty, and let us honor their service!

It’s a good life!
