Keeping Cool

I am not one to complain about the weather. Usually. It’s true, I am not a huge fan of the cold, but I compensate by limiting my exposure to it as much as I can. And while I was a little disappointed this past winter that there was not a single day my kids' schools were closed due to ice, I was generally pretty happy that temperatures were mild compared with some past winters. I am definitely a warmer weather type of person and, every winter, I look forward to the days when I can be outside on a patio somewhere, basking in the warm sun. It is just nice to be outside when the very air does not hurt one’s face.

Even though this past winter was pretty mild, it felt like pieces of it kept coming back unexpectedly. Just when I thought I could put away the jackets and sweaters, another cold front would come in and there I was, flipping the thermostat back to the heat setting. I’m being completely sincere when I say that I had my heater on in mid-April. I don’t mind the odd cold day in April, though. I know that by then, the cold will be fleeting, and may only last a day or even a morning. The other upside to late season fronts is that it gives the air conditioner a break before the heat really sets in.

Speaking of air conditioners, this is a great time to schedule a tune-up for your system. A little preventive maintenance can do wonders for your system’s lifespan and efficiency. And it never hurts to have your condensation line checked out to make sure it’s draining smoothly. A blocked condensation line can cause leaks, which in turn can damage equipment, floors, or drywall. One of the last things anyone wants is to have their air conditioner go out in the middle of a string of 100+ degree days.

Need more convincing? As this month's Item of Value, I’d like to connect you with Hindsite’s trusted HVAC service provider, Les Sariol with Altruistic A/C & Heating, who is offering to come by and service your unit at a great price. All you have to do is click here to request an appointment and Les’ team will follow up with you to schedule a time. In the meantime, check out this flyer for ways you can help keep your system in tip-top shape year round. Here’s hoping your summer gets off to a cool start!
